2. Fly into Punta Arenas, Chile
3. Drive to Puerto Montt + Navimag
4. Drive through Argentina
5. Bus or private transfer from El Calafate, Argentina
6. Crux Australis 4-day Ferry
1. Fly to Puerto Natales, Chile.
This is the most direct way of arriving to Puerto Natales, the base camp town to visit Torres del Paine National Park.
We recommend looking for flights that depart from Santiago Airport and connect to Puerto Natales. Keep in mind that Puerto Natales is a seasonal airport meaning that depending on the month that you are looking for it may or may not be opened (open between September-April). Some shoulder months only have two flights a week and as the season picks up (December is peak season) the flights increase to everyday.
The airlines that you can look into are: Sky, LATAM, and JetSmart.
2. Fly to Punta Arenas, Chile.
This option is very similar to the one stated above, except, it is open all year round. The catch do this option is that you will arrive to the capital of the region of Magallanes. From here you can either decide to visit Punta Arenas for a day or two, or go directly from the airport to Puerto Natales. This is a 3-hour bus or private transfer ride. For more information, check out our "transfers" tab.
If you wish to take a charter bus, keep in mind that the scheduled departures are fixed. Our recommended bus companies are Bus-Sur or Buses Fernandez.
3. Drive to Puerto Montt + Navimag 3 day Ferry.
For those seeking a mix between driving along the south of Chile and cruising along the Patagonian fjords, this is your best bet. You can rent a car from Santiago (the Capital of Chile) and start your trip driving South to the city of Puerto Montt. From here you can board the ferry Navimag with the car and take a 3 day journey until you reach the town of Puerto Natales.
Are you passionate about driving and taking things nice and calm? An option is to drive your way down to Puerto Natales. However, there is a catch. Since the land on the chilean side starts breaking into endless archipelagos, it is recommended to cross into Argentina through the Samoré Pass close to Osorno. From here you can keep making your way to Puerto Natales. Keep in mind that for every journey driving you MUST refill your gas tank since the distances from here on out are quite far. An option to re-enter Chile is through the Paso Don Guillermo and the second option is the Paso Dorotea. A plus to this is that you can visit other beautiful places like El Calafate and the Perito Moreno Glacier.
5. Bus or Private Transfer from El Calafate, Argentina
From the iconic city where you can see Perito Moreno Glacier at Los Glaciares National Park is where we can pick you up to make your next stop around Patagonia. You can arrive to El Calafate by taking a 3-hour plane ride from Buenos Aires, Argentina (the Capital). Once you are ready to head towards Chile, there are two options. a 5-6 hour bus that takes off at set schedules or, a private transfer arranged to your specific needs.
